About This Experience
The Saimaa lake system covers 4,400 km² of interlinked lakes in South Savo and South Karelia. Our trolling guide launches from Savonlinna and targets the productive narrows (salmet) between lakes where currents concentrate baitfish and predators. Pikeperch up to 10 kg patrol the 5–12 metre deep ledges; landlocked salmon (järvilohi) reach 8–12 kg in the main lake. Pike over 15 kg are caught every season. The guide boat seats four and carries full downrigger and board equipment. Night trolling permits available for pikeperch in July and August. Tea, coffee and smoked fish lunch served on the boat.
