About This Experience
Lake Orivesi (130 km²) sits at the junction of several major Finnish lake systems and has been a productive sport-fishing destination for over a century. Modern vertical jigging with 10–40g lead-head jigs and soft plastics is the most effective technique for big pikeperch in the 8–15m depth range. Our guide operates a 22-foot aluminium boat with live-bait tank, echo-sounder, and GPS mapping. Summer season targets pikeperch on the western deep basins; winter ice-jigging season (December–March) uses motorised ice auger and heated shelter tents for all-day comfort. Ice thickness checks are performed every morning. Hot soup and coffee provided throughout.
