About This Experience
Jigging (pilkkiminen / jiggaus) is the art of working a weighted lure vertically through the water column, triggering aggressive strikes from predatory fish. On this beginner day you learn to set up a jig rod, select the right lure weight and colour for the conditions, read a fish-finder display, and master the pumping, pausing and lifting cadence that triggers bites. The guide's 22-foot pontoon boat is equipped with a flat, non-slip deck, boarding ramp and handrails — making it straightforward for participants using wheelchairs or with limited mobility to board, fish comfortably and move around the deck safely throughout the day. The sonar screen is positioned within easy reach. You fish on productive lake structures — rocky points, drop-offs, and underwater plateaus — where perch and zander congregate year-round. All tackle, licences and lunch are included. Sessions run in open water from May through November, and on the ice (through a drilled hole in a heated tent) from January through March.
