About This Experience
The Tornionjoki river system drains 40,157 km² of fell Lapland, creating one of the largest free-flowing river networks in Scandinavia. The Finnish side is accessible from Tornio and Ylitornio, where crystalline rapid sections hold dense populations of Arctic grayling (harjus) and wild brown trout. Our guide provides waders, wading boots, and a selection of upstream nymph and dry-fly tackle. Grayling average 30–45 cm with fish over 55 cm possible in the deep pool below each rapid. The river is open to public fishing with a regional permit (included). Shore campfire lunch with coffee and grilled sausages.
